Top Ten Stephen King Books Authored By Someone Other Than Stephen King
(A laudatory designation rather than an insulting one: these are books that were written after Stephen King established himself that benefited from a publishing landscape that he created and that seem to me to owe a debt to him, by which I mean that they (1) could fairly be classified as horror, (2) are immersive rather than obstructive, and (3) contain some element of the supernatural or the impossible. Here are ten of my favorites, listed alphabetically by author.)
(dis)comfort Food by Brad Carter
Southern Gods by John Hornor Jacobs
The Tooth Fairy by Graham Joyce
Big Machine by Victor LaValle
Suicide Woods: Stories by Benjamin Percy
The Need by Helen Phillips
Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough
Sleep Donation by Karen Russell
A Nest of Nightmares by Lisa Tuttle
The Caretaker of Lorne Field by Dave Zeltserman
