Top Five Stephen King Adaptations

(Just as I haven’t read every Stephen King book, I haven’t seen every Stephen King adaptation, but these are my top five, in order of preference.)

  1. The Mist (directed by Frank Darabont, 2007)*

  2. Stand by Me (directed by Rob Reiner, 1986)

  3. The Dead Zone (directed by David Cronenberg, 1983)

  4. The Shining (directed by Stanley Kubrick, 1980)

  5. Carrie (directed by Brian De Palma, 1976)

* The Shawshank Redemption, IMDb’s longstanding Top Rated Movie, is great, too, but if I had to pick one Darabont adaptation, it would be The Mist.
